Another Player Puts “Pen” To Paper

Torquay Cricket Club are pleased to announce their third signing of the winter with Reuben Stanley deciding to follow big brother Callum from Ipplepen CC to test his skills at a higher level.

A classy shot by a young Reuben!

Reuben apart from one season at Bovey Tracey CC has always plied his trade with bat and bowl at Ipplepen CC.  Reuben’s highest score with the bat is 90 for Bovey Tracey CC 3rd XI v Plymouth CC 3rd XI.  Just a week later Reuben scored 81 against Kingsbridge CC 2nd XI.  Whilst Reuben’s best bowling is 5 for 34 for Ipplepen CC 2nd XI v Cornwood CC 3rd XI which included the wicket of young Ben Beaumont who is now in the Devon set up.  Though not joining as a wicketkeeper, Reuben spent a fair time behind the stumps in 2016 claiming no fewer than 5 stumpings.

During a virtual catch up with Evo, Reuben said “I’m excited to get going with Torquay.  I’m looking forward to the challenge of playing in a side looking to move forward.  Hopefully we can get a good season of cricket in.”

Torquay will certainly be achieving their aim of being a very family orientated club next season with the Stanley’s now being the seventh family to provide two “senior” players of the same generation.

Welcome Reuben
