Torquay Cricket Club are extremely proud to announce our star young fast bowler, Sonny Baker, having previously been a net bowler for the Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2017, has been asked to be a net bowler for the current Men’s Cricket World Cup aged just 16 years and 3 months.
Sonny whose average speed has been recently clocked at 79mph (he was apparently asked to “slow down” by, the Sri Lankan ladies when aged just 14) has the batsmen from New Zealand, Kane Williamson and all, in his sights first this coming Friday prior to their day night match the following day. Sonny will also have the opportunity to show case his talents against the batsmen from the relative new kids on the block, Afghanistan.
Sonny already a regular in King’s College, Taunton’s 1st XI and part of the Academy at the Cooper Associates County Ground will hopefully, have further opportunities to advance his career by bowling against the stars from Australia, Bangladesh, Pakistan and the West Indies later in the tournament. Involvement with the Women’s Ashes is also likely later this summer.
Go Sonny Go!
