After some fine performances for the 1st XI in his debut season at the club, James was selected for a T20 double header against Gloucestershire and Somerset at Taunton Vale CC (Somerset CCC second ground).
First up was the host county who won the toss and elected to bat. Although they amassed 173 in their 20 overs, 4 of the 7 wickets that fell, fell to James who took 4 for 32 off his 4 overs. James was asked to open the reply for Devon and trademark hard hitting saw his hit 23 at a run a ball. Devon ultimately fell 11 runs short.
The second half of the double header was against Gloucestershire who also won the toss and elected to bat. This time James only took 1 wicket off 3 overs conceding 36 runs. Gloucestershire posted a large score of 1885 for 5 in their 20 overs. James once again opened Devon’s reply with 20 off just 13 balls including 2 sixes. This time Devon fell 45 runs short.
