After Covid19 travel restrictions bowled the club a bouncer regarding their initial signing. Torquay are pleased to announce they have secured the services Keshan Wijersthne an all-rounder from Sri Lanka who bowls right arm fast medium.

Kesh as he is known as will hopefully be available for the away match at North Devon on 29 May.

Kesh has experience of all three formats of the game at the highest level in Sri Lanka including playing for the national U19 and A Teams. To show his versatility in the first class format Kesh has a top score of 62 not out, while his best bowling is in T20 format with 5 for 15.

Kesh isn’t new to these shores though having spent both 2018 and 2019 over here, averaging 25 with the bat and 21 with the ball both times. Having been here before, Kesh is already a Level 2 Coach so will be heavily involved on Friday nights with the colts.

A huge thank you must go to Tim Western for sorting the paperwork, Evo for sorting the registration on Play Cricket, Ian Western for acting as taxi service and most importantly Steve Lewis (and of course not forgetting his partner Charlotte) for providing Kesh with accommodation. A superb team effort.

Finally, all it is left to say:

Welcome  Kesh and hope you enjoy your time with Torquay CC
