NEWS FLASH – T20 Returns To The Rec

In preparation for their assault on the Aaron Printers Cup (or for the traditionalists the Narracott Cup), the 1st XI will take on Stoke Gabriel this Thursday (6th) starting at 18:15.

The Stoke Gabriel side is likely to contain Andy Kingdon (son of Torquay’s former Sultan of Swing – Malcolm Kingdon and grandson of legendary Torquay scorer – Esme Kingdon) and Jack Tolley (son of Steve Tolley who played for Torquay 2nd XI back in the 1980s).

There is always the prospect of the match being played in the presence of a current GB Olympic Hockey Gold Medalist – Giselle Ansley. Dad Doug still turns out for the 2nd XI, brother Seb turns for the 1st XI when home and mum Sue has been known to frequent the scorebox!

As remarkable as it sounds the match will give Evo the opportunity to tick another club off his bucket list as in 34 years he has never scored for a match against them. Though it is probably not as remarkable as his decision to give someone else the opportunity to score for the Aaron Printers Cup this season.

Finally, in the words of the late Leslie Crowther, “come on down” and watch the 1st XI in action.
