Torquay CC are extremely proud to announce their young speedster, Sonny Baker has made his debut for Somerset CC 2nd XI v Kent CC 2nd XI in a 3-day 2nd XI County Championship match at Taunton Vale CC. Sonny’s debut has come aged just 16 years and 103 days – younger then the Overton twins and even Sir Ian “Beefy” Botham!
The legend that is Marcus Trescothick entrusted Sonny to come on first change and although he was wicketless his 12 overs went for just 57 runs and testimony to his control no bowling extras given away. The Kent side included Daniel Bell-Drummond and Darren Stevens. Sonny didn’t get the opportunity to show his skill with the bat though and Somerset suffered a heavy defeat 10 wicket inside 2 days. Wickets and runs – surely only a matter of time.
