Week One - The season started well with a convincing win against our neighbours, Barton CC. Batting first against, we accumulated 222 for 7 with the main contributors being Neal Osborn 71, Anthony Nadar (31) and Dan Western (29). The visitors in reply were all out for 134 with extras top score (43). Wickets were shared around but star performers were Anthony Nadar (3-10), Neal Osborn (2-17) and Noah Rider (2-5). Torquay (20 pts) bt Barton (6 pts) by 88 runs.
Week Two - We travelled to Plymouth Civil Service & Roborough, where in tough conditions we were inserted and set the home team 151 to win. Tim Western anchored the innings with 97. The bowling and catching was outstanding and PCS&R were all out for 123 with three wickets for Will Leighton (3-27) and Noah Rider (3-14). Special mention also to Harry Passenger who opened the bowling and his nine overs went for just eight runs, picking up a wicket in the process. Torquay (18 pts) bt PCS&R (8 pts) by 28 runs.
Week Three - Against an experienced Paignton 2nd XI, we received our first defeat of the season. The visitors scored 289 for 4 in their innings with another high extras count of 46. There was one wicket apiece for Ian Baker, Will Leighton and Noah Rider. In response, we made 124 all out with Tim Western making 66. A learning experience for our seven players who were Under 16. Torquay (5pts) lost to Paignton (20 pts) by 165 runs.
Week Four - Kenn won the toss and decided to bat on an interesting wicket and assembled 254 for 7 in their 45 overs. The bowlers struggled to find rhythm and unfortunately numerous catches were dropped releasing any pressure that had been created. Again extras were the oppositions top score (61). In response, Torquay managed to score 153 all out, Tim Western last man out, one short of his century, and only Sonny Baker (10) and Darren Whittington (10) getting into double figures. Torquay (6 pts) lost to Kenn (20 pts) by 101 runs.
