YOUNGEST EVER TORQUAY CAPTAIN

Whilst Justin Yau has it for the 1st XI and almost certainly Ellie Fielding and Harry Passenger for the club’s 2nd XI and Brockman Cup XIs respectively. They will both seem old compared to who stepped forward (before even being asked) to skipper the Midweek XI against Four Oak Saints CC.

With Midweek Manager, Gordon Avery, in need of a skipper, step forward Blaise Baker at just 14 years and 80 days!

Torquay batted first and were all for 197 in 37.3 overs with Joe Griffiths on loan from FOS top scoring with 61.

Initially FOS were cruising it at 58 for 1 after 12 overs. Blaise then formed a deadly combination with Sehan Weerasinghe (on loan from Paignton CC) reducing them to 65 for 6 just 4 overs later – Blaise was on a hat trick at one stage! Despite some late resistance, FOS were all out for 140 in 34.1 overs. The deadly duo having claimed 4 for 13 (Sehan) and 3 for 34 (Blaise).

Congratulations Blaise on your winning debut – hopefully the first of many !
