Code of Conduct

Senior Players

  1. Torquay Cricket Club is committed to maintaining the highest standards of behaviour and conduct. This Code of Conduct incorporates the Spirit of Cricket and applies to all matches played by the Torquay Cricket Club.
  2. The captains are responsible at all times for ensuring that play is conducted with the spirit of cricket as well as within the laws of the game.
  3. Players and Team Officials must at all times accept the umpire’s decision. Players must not show dissent at the umpire’s decision or react in a provocative or disapproving manner towards an umpire at any time.
  4. Player and Team Officials shall not intimidate assault or attempt to intimidate or assault an umpire, another player, or a spectator.
  5. Players and Team Officials shall not use crude and /or abusive language nor make offensive gestures or hand signals. Nor deliberately distract an opponent.
  6. Players and Team Officials shall not make racially abusive comments nor indulge in racially abusive actions against fellow players, officials, members and supporters. Torquay Cricket Club operates an active open door membership policy, respecting player qualification regulations and welcome players and members irrespective of ethnic origin.
  7. Players and Team Officials shall not use or in any way be involved in the use or distribution of illegal drugs.
  8. Torquay Cricket Club will take adequate steps to ensure the good behaviour of members and supporters towards players and umpires.

NOTE: Torquay Cricket Club will take adequate steps to ensure the good behaviour of members and spectators towards players and umpires mindful of the sanctions available to the League by way of point’s deduction and fines if offenses occur.

Code of Conduct - Junior Players

Torquay Cricket Club is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all its members. 
Torquay Cricket Club believes that it is important that members, coaches, administrators and parents, carers or guardians associated with the club should, at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others. 

Therefore, members are encouraged to be open at all times and to share any concerns or complaints that they may have about any aspect of the club with Penny or Declan Bailey Welfare Officers.

As a member of Torquay Cricket Club you are expected to abide by the following junior code of conduct:

  1. Torquay Cricket Club is committed to maintaining the highest standards of behaviour and conduct. This Code of Conduct incorporates the Spirit of Cricket and applies to all matches played by the Torquay Cricket Club.
  2. All members must play within the rules and respect officials and their decisions. Including ground staff, players and officials of your own club and those of the opposing team.
  3. All members must respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
  4. Players should keep to agreed timings for training and competitions or inform their coach or team manager if they are going to be late.
  5. Members must wear suitable kit for training and match sessions, as agreed with the coach/team manager and dress in an appropriate manner (both on and off the field).
  6. Players must pay any fees for training or events promptly.
  7. Junior members are not allowed to smoke on club premises or whilst representing the club at competitions.
  8. Junior members are not allowed to consume alcohol or illegal drugs of any kind on the club premises or whilst representing the club.
  9. Players will follow instructions given by the Team Coach and/or Manager.
  10. Players will co-operate with coaches, team-mates and opponents - remember without them there would be no game.
  11. Players are responsible at all times for ensuring that play is conducted within the spirit of cricket as well as within the laws of the game.
  12. Players will sure visiting teams are made to feel welcome.
  13. Players will accept victory or defeat with dignity and grace.
  14. Players shall not use crude and /or abusive language nor make offensive gestures or hand signals. Nor deliberately distract an opponent.
  15. Players shall not intimidate assault or attempt to intimidate or assault an umpire, another player, or a spectator 
  16. Torquay Cricket Club will take adequate steps to ensure the good behaviour of members and supporters towards players and umpires.
