Seniors Third XI

Following the tremendously successful season enjoyed by the 3rd team in 2015 - winning the division by 46 points - it will be my pleasure to captain the side this year.  John Mather has done a magnificent job in bringing the third team into existence and leading it for two seasons.  It has provided men's cricket for some of the juniors at the club and has meant that some of us rather older players can still be involved in league cricket.

So, this year we are in 2nd XI D Division West playing the likes of Cornwood's 4th team and local rivals Paignton's 3rd team.  We will continue to play at Cockington - a unique and iconic cricket ground.  Last season, a couple of the more unusual moments at Cockington were one game being interrupted because a bride wanted her photograph taken in front of the stumps with some of her wedding guests and another game when, during the second innings, we had to maintain concentration against the distraction of a play being acted out in front of Cockington Court watched by a couple of hundred people!  It' a fairly unique (and beautiful) cricketing venue.

Our squad is strong and it will be very interesting to see how we fare against slightly better opposition than last year.  Best wishes to all involved

Tim Francis
